The Ritz Carlton provides a wonderful stay in the Heart of Moscow. It is just 5-10 minutes from Red Square and all of the attractions, and its O2 Bar and Lounge with outdoor terrace provides a view across the square to St. Basil's Cathedral and a nice view of the Kremlin, with excellent cocktails and other drinks available. The rooms are very well appointed in the typical classic style of the Ritz Carlton chain. I received an upgrade to an executive suite which had a separate living room and office area and a bedroom, with a N espresso machine and other standard amenities. The gym is quite large, with many treadmills, elliptical, and bikes available, with a full set of free weights and many weight machines. It opens at 5 am but you can gain access as needed outside of normal hours. There are a couple of restaurants on the ground floor, one is the Novikov which is an excellent Asian and sushi restaurant and the Cafe Russe, where breakfast buffet is served. Breakfast is excellent, with a caviar and champagne station, cold meats, smoked fish and French cheeses, standard hot breakfast items, omelettes to order, a good selection of pastries, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, and cereals and breads. Service in the restaurants and bars, and at the entrance is very attentive and friendly. Check in was a bit of a disappointment as it was quite understaffed when we arrived but this was the only blemish on the service. It was an excellent stay overall, with great location, luxurious environment and service.
