They were also very prompt in replying to my emails when I was liaising with them to provide a cake for my husband’s birthday. They also offered to make us a fruit basket after knowing that my husband and I are not big cake eaters and we can’t finish a whole cake on our own. Most importantly, they delivered it on time on the day of his birthday! Perhaps, the only downside was that the toiletries were not checked and topped up accordingly. We had to call the housekeepers a few times over our 7-day stay to get the tissue boxes changed, or to refill the shampoo/body wash. In terms of location, Novotel is located relatively near to both the train station and the city center. From the Basel train station, you can easily take either tram 10 or 11 and alight at Peter Mariam station (which is the next stop), and then take a short 5-minute walk from there. It’s also a few trams stops away from the city center where there are plenty of food options or shopping places. Breakfast options were good, but we basically had the same food selection for 7 days. Perhaps, this is the norm for hotels in Switzerland, as we noticed after we moved to the other hotels in the other parts of Switzerland. All in all, I’ll still choose Novotel if I get a chance to visit Basel again!
